My Catholic beliefs influence all that I do and are a main contributing factor to my desire to help others.
I have helped build world language programs within K-12 schools and at the collegiate level. I have also taught within those programs and developed creative teaching methods to help students who have historically struggled in foreign language courses to excel. I work with principals and faculty members to evaluate the current foreign language program and determine what professional development opportunities would be most beneficial within the program. As part of my customized solution, I will arm teachers with the tools they need to be more effective. I consider myself a mentor and ensure that all teacher feedback is delivered professionally and respectfully. I have a passion for world languages and want future generations to have that same passion. By helping students be successful in their foreign language classes we can create excitement for learning, and for accepting, cultural differences.
-Dr. Gregory DePies, Northern State University
I have had the privilege of making a positive impact within amazing institutions across the country.
As a Professor, I developed the Chinese and Linguistics program and was the Chair of the Faculty Hiring Committee. I was also a member of the Curriculum Committee. Within the Chinese program, students achieved great success and obtained prestigious scholarships from the Princeton-in-Beijing summer program.
As a highly effective faculty member, I capitalized on my students unique strengths to maximize their learning experience. One student was so inspired with his own success, it prompted him to develop an award-winning app to learn Chinese faster.
I was recruited by the Mandarin’s program director to provide consulting services in an effort to ensure both the continuation and success of the program. Through one-on-one advising opportunities and various workshops, I made significant improvements in the program for faculty and students alike.
As a certified K-12 Chinese and ESL teacher and mentor, I am excited to provide tools and insight to dramatically improve the success in your teachers’ classrooms.
It is no secret that principals are spread thin and performance assessment is often an area that lacks the attention it deserves. Foreign language class evaluations bring a unique set of challenges for principals as well. Principals and teachers alike appreciate the unbiased perspective I bring to the table with no preconceived notions. Feedback is not seen as a personal attack. I act as a mentor and provide high quality assessment within K-12 world language programs to encourage teacher improvement. I am also excited to provide the tools and resources to principals and school districts for effective and tailored foreign language teacher assessment.
